I always think buying gifts for Mother's Day is harder than for a birthday; there's a little more sentiment behind it. The months and years seem to roll around so quickly these days and each year seems to get a bit harder!
I've actually started a kind of present diary now, I make a note of what I get people (mainly family) so that I can refer back to it; I can also make notes of gift ideas I think of throughout the year. It helps avoid repeating presents too!
With Mothers Day just around the corner, I've put together a list of my favourite gifts for Grandma (or Nanny, Nana, Granny, whichever name you use!).
1. Mothers Day Rose
I must admit this is one of my favourite ideas. For Mothers Day 2015 we bought the Mum in a Million rose as a Mothers Day gift for our own Mums from the kids. I loved that is was named 'Mum in a Million' and it really is the gift that keeps giving (unlike a bouquet that is likely to be much more expensive and last a fraction of the time)! Both roses are still going and I often get an update on how well they're doing.
When I was researching for this year's gift guide I came across a Mothers Day rose! It's perfect to kept in a pot and is just £9.99 from Giftaplant, teamed with a pretty pot it's a lovely gift from the grandchildren. You can choose your delivery day and it will come in a plastic pot so could be given as is if needed.
2. Personalised Jewellery
It's hard to go wrong with jewellery as a keepsake item and there is oodles of choice to suit all budgets. I do adore this rose gold fingerprint necklace though, made by Button and Bean. Once your order is placed, they'll send out an impression kit for you to create the fingerprint, which you then return in the pre-paid envelope.
3. DIY Slipper 'Hamper'
Who wouldn't love a new cosy pair of slippers filled with tiny treats? This is an especially thoughtful idea, ideal for children to give to Grandma since they can be really involved in its making!
To keep your gifts from sliding inside the slippers, pop some paper at the ends then carefully place your pretties in the opening. Chocolates, make-up and hand cream are all in-keeping with the relaxing connotations associated with a pair of slippers.
4. F&M Hamper
If the slippers hamper just isn't enough, at the other end of the spectrum is this delightful Mothers Day hamper from Fortnum and Mason. Filled with delectables, there's everything from posh tea to glorious lemon curd, truffles and more.
While this hamper is priced at £100, there are all sorts of goodies available from F&M from £10 and up. So whatever the budget you can spoil Grandma with something a bit more special than a standard supermarket box of chocs.
I came across an obscene amount of 'best mums get promoted to grandma' gift options during my research and I personally think that message has been done to death. Something personalised like jewellery or a key ring has a place for sure, if it's tasteful; Once you've done it though, you've kind of done it.
This glam-ma cushion made me smile though. A bit tongue in cheek and lighthearted, it's a quirky little gift. You can get it with a cushion pad for £24.00 from Ellie Ellie on notonthehighstreet.
6. Letter to Grandma
This poem by Bespoke Verse is a super stylish yet sentimental present for those of you looking for something special. It's a great alternative to the personalised gift if you've done that already, however don't worry if you don't use the term Grandma, there are all the options you'd expect available.
7. Photo Collage
One thing that Grandmas and Nannies don't seem to be able to get enough of is photos of their grandchildren. We launched our Photo Collage collection for Father's Day last year and it was really popular. We've slightly updated the design for 2018 and it's a great way to showcase a selection of images.
To celebrate Mothers Day it's the perfect place to include some pictures of Grandma with the little ones. All you need to do is send us your images (we'll tell you how) and we'll take care of any cropping etc and lay them out beautifully ready for your print approval.
8. Pamper Me
Finally, another thing you can't have enough of is afternoon teas/spa days/manicures and so on... It's a great opportunity to give some well earned time-out to those Grandmas that help with the children.
What will you give? Let me know if you liked the list; I would also love to hear your ideas on perfect presents, do comment with them below!

I don't know about you, but I always feel like a Valentine's gift has to hit the right tone. Somewhere there has to be some kind of meaning or romance to make it worthy of being presented on the day of love!
Well, I've spent hours exploring ideas to fit the bill (and the budget) and assembled my ten favourites here.
I've handpicked 5 of my favourite Valentine's cards for him, for 2018. You won't find anything overly mushy, it's just not my style! Quirky, funny or stylishly simple is more my thing.
