From doughnut walls to abstract masterpieces, wedding cake trends continue to evolve, but what will be big in 2018?
I've got the low-down together with some gorgeous examples to get those creative juices flowing!
The fashionable naked cake is maturing somewhat into the semi-naked creation, where some frosting is used but the cake crumb is still visible beneath. The effect is a more polished finish, while maintaining rustic charm. This pretty example by Amanda Lee Sugar Cake Art also incorporates fresh flowers, also in vogue.
2. Fresh florals
Bee's Bakery give us a stunning example of how to use fresh flowers on your wedding cake; not only are they pretty, but they can also be a cheaper alternative than sugar flowers! There are some dos and don'ts with real flowers though, so particularly if you're planning to try this yourself, have a look at this great guide by Maddocks Farm Organics.
3. Artistic masterpiece
Yes, this really is a cake! If you want your wedding cake to stand out from the crowd, then using art as your inspiration could be the key. This incredible work of art was created by Amy DeGiulio of Sugar Flower Cake Shop in New York and is based on still-life paintings of Dutch artist Rachel Ruysch.
4. Doughnut wall
Yes, this is the new all modern alternative to the cupcake! Let's face it, everyone loves a doughnut, donut they? Sorry, couldn't resist! Here's a simple guide to making your own doughnut wall. Krispy Kreme now also offer an 8 teir doughnut tower, with no less than 216 doughnuts!
5. Drip cake
This final example from Cotswold Cake Kitchen incorporates a couple of on trend elements, with the abstract addition of gold drips and edible decorations of macarons and marshmallows. The two simple features elevate this beautiful pink wedding cake and nestle it firmly into the arty category.
I personally have a bit of a baking hobby and am definitely adding a drip cake to my list!
Whichever style takes your fancy, you'll be sure to wow your guests and ensure your cake is a talking point.

I always think buying gifts for Mother's Day is harder than for a birthday; there's a little more sentiment behind it. The months and years seem to roll around so quickly these days and each year seems to get a bit harder!
I've actually started a kind of present diary now, I make a note of what I get people (mainly family) so that I can refer back to it; I can also make notes of gift ideas I think of throughout the year. It helps avoid repeating presents too!
With Mothers Day just around the corner, I've put together a list of my favourite gifts for Grandma (or Nanny, Nana, Granny, whichever name you use!).

I don't know about you, but I always feel like a Valentine's gift has to hit the right tone. Somewhere there has to be some kind of meaning or romance to make it worthy of being presented on the day of love!
Well, I've spent hours exploring ideas to fit the bill (and the budget) and assembled my ten favourites here.
I've handpicked 5 of my favourite Valentine's cards for him, for 2018. You won't find anything overly mushy, it's just not my style! Quirky, funny or stylishly simple is more my thing.
