Linzi and Colin's Equestrian Wedding at Ingliston Country Club

March 13, 2016

After being together since high school in 2000, Linzi and Colin were finally engaged on Christmas Eve 2014 and decided not to wait around any longer, planning their perfect wedding in just 5 short months. They were married on Saturday, 13th June 2015 at world class equestrian centre Ingliston Country Club

Linzi recalls that their family and friends thought they were crazy trying to plan a wedding in such a short space of time, but after booking their venue she said it actually was much easier than you might think. The staff at Ingliston were pivotal and helped the couple to plan every detail, making them feel so looked after.

Getting a dress was the first priority and Linzi visited June Brides in Glasgow with mum Katie and Mother-in-Law Mary where she chose the very first dress she tried on, a gorgeous Cosmobella creation.

Since the decor at Ingliston is pink, purples and silver, Linzi kept her colour scheme similar which really came out in her stunning flowers. Incorporating beautiful big peonies, Linzi wanted something a bit 'wilder' than a perfect bouquet and I absolutely adore the outcome by Wildflower.

Linzi was able to get ready for her big day at a lodge onsite at Ingliston and she and Stepdad Derek rode a golf buggy to the ceremony, following which Linzi and Colin posed for photographs (taken by Linzi's Uncle Billy) at Ingliston itself and also at nearby Erskine Beach.

With the photos over, it was time for guests to be seated for the wedding breakfast. It was at this point that Linzi wanted to bring in the equestrian theme a bit more to tie in with the venue and her love of a little flutter on the horses; while searching online for inspiration she found us! Discovering our horse racing themed wedding table plan, designed to look like a page from the Racing Post, Linzi said she knew immediately it was the one thing she would not compromise on and it shaped the theme for the rest of the day.

Table names were mocked up as race names, mainly featuring stops on their honeymoon, but the top table just had to be the Grand National! Linzi says she and Colin had so much fun coming up with 'horse names' for their guests, even though it was a bit challenging too!

The wedding day itself coincided with a Republic of Ireland and Scotland football game, so continuing the sporting and betting theme favours were bets on the game.

As an extra unique touch, cousin Lewis made a mock up of the top table guests in Lego! It made for a really fun and personal centrepiece for the table.

Linzi and Colin look back with pride on their intimate wedding, and say everyone commented on how personal it was and that they'd gone the extra mile to incorporate everyone into the fun. Their treasured equestrian themed table plan is now a feature at home and always a beautiful reminder of their special day.

8 Mothers Day Gift Ideas for Grandma
8 Mothers Day Gift Ideas for Grandma

February 16, 2018

I always think buying gifts for Mother's Day is harder than for a birthday; there's a little more sentiment behind it. The months and years seem to roll around so quickly these days and each year seems to get a bit harder!

I've actually started a kind of present diary now, I make a note of what I get people (mainly family) so that I can refer back to it; I can also make notes of gift ideas I think of throughout the year. It helps avoid repeating presents too!

With Mothers Day just around the corner, I've put together a list of my favourite gifts for Grandma (or Nanny, Nana, Granny, whichever name you use!).
